Douglas Dutchers Host the 12th Annual Vintage Base Ball Conference in Douglas, Michigan

(PRWEB) October 3, 2006 -- The Vintage Base Ball Association has invited the Douglas Dutchers to host the 12th Annual Vintage Base Ball Conference in April of 2007. Our goal is to designate April 13th to April 15th as the "Festival of Base Ball" weekend. The Highlights will include an All Star Match with each club wearing their own uniform; a sight to behold.

The Vintage Base Ball Association consists of 50 clubs nationally, along with approximately 98 non-members, who actively participate in Base Ball events both at their home fields as well as travelling to play in tournaments.

The Douglas Dutchers were formed four years ago to promote and to preserve the local history of base ball played at Beery Field for more than one hundred years in the heart of Douglas Michigan. The Dutchers are all local volunteer players who love the gentleman's sport and want to share their passion and community spirit. To capture the spirit of "a day at the base ball field in the 1860's," we plan to drape the field in red, white and blue bunting; selling hand squeezed lemonade, fresh roasted peanuts and all beef hot dogs. Come on out to the ole' ball game.
